Welcome to the mini-collections section!

What we have listed here is pretty much what it says on the can: mini collections that aren't quite big enough/growing enough to warrant having their own pages or sections. This doesn't mean I'm any less fond of them of course! Click the links to be taken to each section!

Toy Story: Okay, so, not such a big secret that I do really love Toy Story. I don't know why but the characters just have this strange sort of charm. I don't have much from the films, but I couldn't go by without gathering together as much of the main cast as I could afford (and wow, some of these guys are expensive, even off the shelf!)

Card Captor Sakura: I'm not an OMGHUGE fan of Card Captor Sakura but I do like it quite a lot :D I'd have to say, the favourite thing I have is the set of 2nd Movie Sakura Cards. There are still a couple of things I'm looking for to consider this collection satisfactory (majorly, the Kodansha Clow Card set. Rather pricey, unfortunately, but something I do quite want).

How To Train Your Dragon: We didn't get a great deal of stuff here on Oz but I'm happy to have what I do! A friend of mine has a heck of a whole lot more than me though haha.

Legend of Zelda: Legend of Zelda stuff! I do quite like LoZ, I don't have a lot, but I tend to pick it up when it crosses my path (and one of these days I really need to get some of those trading figures from Twilight Princess!)

Ace Attorney: Exactly what it says on the box!

Lord of the Rings: To be honest I'm not totally keen on Lord of the Rings (used to be but grew out of it awfully fast). However some of the figures are very very nice :D

Toy Story

Sheriff Woody Pride

Year: 2010
Origin: USA
Availability: Available
Pieces Missing: None

Faced with a choice between the Mattel version of the character (from the Toy Story 3 line) and the licenced Thinkway Toys figure built from the films' model data, I ultimtely chose this one for the superior build quality and the nice little 'actual-toy-or-character' switch feature.

And the stand. Which is always a plus.

Bullseye

Year: 2010
Origin: USA
Availability: Rare
Pieces Missing: None

Bullseye
looks just so brilliant. Comes with a stand and certificate of authenticity just like the other Thinkway Toys figures and is in scale with all the others -- just as you'd expect! I still can't believe my luck and the surprising price we found him for (especially considering Thinkway's Rex figure is common and retails for $100 here finding Bullseye for $49 was a steal) -- he's amazingly built and is somewhat interactive; Bullseye responds to sound, and rocking movements will cause him to vibrate and make galloping sounds. He also has a button for all of the above and occasionally he'll play the Woody's Roundup theme!

Another thing about this figure is he's huge. Being a scale replica makes him quite a big fellow indeed!

Jessie

Year: 2010
Origin: USA
Availability: Available
Pieces Missing: None

Mattel scale version of the figure to fit in with my other figures from this set! She's really quite a charming doll with her soft vinyl hat and yarn hair. I would have rather had the Thinkway version but she's unfortunately out of my price range atm and currently unavailable in Australia. I will get her eventually though.
Buzz Lightyear

Year: 2010
Origin: USA
Availability: Available
Pieces Missing: None

Thinkway's Buzz Lightyear is really quite impressive. There's not much even to say -- once you compare the two side-by-side in the store this version has a noticeable difference in quality. Even though Mattel's latest has extra functions (like a jetpack) the the jerky head movements of this toy originally put me off just a tad haha.
Rex

Year: 2010
Origin: USA
Availability: Available
Pieces Missing: None

I have to admit I'm not 100% impressed with Rex but I still couldn't resist picking him up for half his usual retail price. He has very limited articulation (even by comparison to the film counterpart) and when you leave him on his interactive mode he is annoying. He's made out of a really nice quality plastic though and visually matches up the best of any Rex to the film. This does have the somewhat unfortunate side-effect of being huge though haha.

Card Captor Sakura

Bandai Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 'The Sealed Card', Special Edition Sakura Card Set

Year: ????
Origin: Japan
Availability: Out of Production; Extremely Rare.
Pieces Missing: None

Includes all of the original cards plus the final card The Hope, which appears in the film, packed in a replica of Sakura's card bag. Absolutely beautiful quality cards and well-worth the price tag they now fetch. I was lucky enough to get these years and years ago and paid a lot less than what they're now worth.
Aside from the set I have, I have only ever seen one other. Limited, this set is extraorinadrily rare. If you go looking for these cards, do not be fooled by schmucks on eBay. There are only two official Sakura Card sets, and only this particular set has The Hope in it. The other set, with the electronic book, does NOT have The Hope. I've seen a few people ripped off buying fake cards in cardboard books thinking that they were real because the Kodansha Cards come in a cardboard book.

USA 'Cardcaptors' Clow Card Set

Year: ????
Origin: USA
Availability: Out of Production.
Pieces Missing: None

Includes all of the original Clow Cards in a plastic book. You can tell though that this was intended to be mistreated; the cards are badly=printed and lacklustre, leaving them to pale considerably in the face of the beautiful Kodansha cards, even though teh latter are packaged in a cardboard book as opposed to the sturdy plastic of this set. This book, despite being solid, is still not the most amazing thing I've ever seen; it's plain and frank, and very uninteresting. I bought these when I was somewhat less-educated on the brands and was expecting something like the Kodansha cards. Still, not too bad for what I paid for it, but clearly very cheaply-produced.

Legend of Zelda
Yujin Gachapon - The Phantom Hourglass: Link with Phantom Hourglass

Year: 2007
Origin: Japan
Availability: Out of Production.
Pieces Missing: None

How cute! I admit, while this particular game upset me (that damned dungeon! Who in all the world thought that was a good idea?), I've always liked the style of these games. They appeal to me.
You can probably already tell if you've been to my Pokemon category, that these were made by the same folks who make the Pokemon zukan

Ace Attorney
Gyakuten Saiban Trading Figure Collection: Phoenix Wright

Year: 2006
Origin: Japan
Availability: Out of Production.
Pieces Missing: None

One of 7 figures. I bought a case to ensure I got the set haha! These fgirues are small and neat, but compared to Square-Enix trading figures of the same scale they don't share the same quality. I'm hoping they release proper figures at some point in time!

One of 7 figures. Maya comes with the defentant's stand instead of a desk; I suppose it's a bit of a poke at the fact that she seems to end up there in almost every game Phoenix is defending in haha!

Lord of the Rings
ToyBiz Lord of the Rings - Return of the King Deluxe Figure: Fell Beast with Ringwraith

Year:
Origin: USA
Availability: Out of Production. Very rare.
Pieces Missing: None

I saw this at the house of a fellow collector much older than myself who had an incredibly impressive collection. It was the first time I'd even heard of a figure of this critter having been made, and the first thing I did after seeing it was to track down information about it. It took me a long time to find it without having to spend a small fortune to be sure, but in the end I lucked out and found it for $20 (very lucky!).
Unfortunately it is no longer on display due to its sheer size (40" wingspan and as long as it is wide!) but hopefully some time in the future I'll have more space available and I'll be able to pull it out again. It's a very impressive figure, the only thing I dislike about it being the disproportionate scale of the Ringwraith (hence I rarely display it with its rider).

Alternate Views:
ToyBiz Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring Deluxe Figure: Arwen with Asfaloth and Frodo

Year:
Origin: USA
Availability: Out of Production.
Pieces Missing: None

When I bought this I was very naughty, because I wasn't supposed to be spending money haha. It is in the minority of toys that I actually bought while they were still on-shelf, and despite having fallen very quickly out-of-love with Lord of the Rings through simple over-saturation in it, I've retained most of my figures since I do like them very much.
They were well-made considering the quality what was on offer amongst toys of the time (and since), and this one is no different. It is still as attractive to me now as it when when it was shining away in a box on the shelf, silently cajolling me into buying it! Arwen lights up when you push on her back, and Asfaloth has a 'galloping' action when you press on his flank.
I would like to have had the Warg and/or the Ringwratih and horse as well (but as far as Ringwraiths go, I think the Fell Beast is a much more impressive mount haha!)

Alternate Views:
ToyBiz Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring 6" Figure: 'Second Age' Elrond in Armour

Year:
Origin: USA
Availability: Out of Production.
Pieces Missing: None

Probably my least-adored of the figures I had from this range (after seeing a later release of Elrond in his Council robes, I much preferred that one but could never find it), which I bought while going through an elf phase. Here he is in his armour as seen at the very beginning of the first film.
ToyBiz Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers 6" Figure: Legolas in Armour

Year:
Origin: USA
Availability: Out of Production.
Pieces Missing: None

I quite liked this figure. I also had the original Fellowship Legolas, but chose to give it to a friend instead and kept this one myself.
